Dr. Mufti Syed Bacha Agha is an Associate Professor at Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, University of Karachi. He completed his Postdoctoral research in 2020, at International Islamic University, Islamabad. In 2014, he completed his Ph.D. in Islamic Studies from University of Balochistan, following his MPhil in Islamic Studies from the same institution in 2008. In 2002, he secured third position with First Division in his Master’s in Islamic Studies. Prior to that, he obtained his BSc from Government Science College, Quetta, in 1999 and FSc from the same institution in 1997. He completed his Matriculation in 1995, from Government Central High School, Quetta. Alongside, Dr. Mufti Syed Bacha Agha has also excelled in Dars-e-Nizami. He was awarded the ‘Alimiyyah Degree’ from Wifaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia, Multan Pakistan, in 2005, and he holds the esteemed title of Mufti.
Dr. Mufti Syed Bacha Agha began his professional career on July 21, 2004, when he was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Colleges & Higher Education, Balochistan. He served in this capacity until June 17, 2015, after which he was promoted to Assistant Professor on June 18, 2015. Over the span of 21 years, he contributed significantly to graduate and postgraduate education in Balochistan. Additionally, he served as the Head of the Islamic Studies Department for six years and held the administrative position of Vice Principal at Government Postgraduate College, Sariab Road, Quetta, one of the oldest institutions in Balochistan, for two years. In March 2025, he joined Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, University of Karachi, as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Mufti Syed Bacha Agha has authored six books, three of which are recognized in the approved categories of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan. He has also written 61 research papers, which have been published in various HEC Approved Research journals, focusing primarily on Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and Seerah (biography of the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH). He has presented his research at 31 international conferences and has participated in academic delegations to various countries, including Indonesia, Qatar, China, Iran, and Afghanistan.
Dr. Mufti Syed Bacha Agha is an esteemed member of the International Seerah Study Center, Chicago, USA, and the Australian Islamic Library, Western Australia. Additionally, he is associated with the HEC Pakistan’s research journals as editorial board member.
