Student Week at SZIC

The Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre (SZIC) celebrated its vibrant and much-awaited Students’ Week with great zeal and enthusiasm. The week-long celebration provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage in healthy competition, showcase their skills, and strengthen their sense of unity and camaraderie within the SZIC community.

A variety of sports and recreational activities were organized, including Badminton, Chess, Cricket, and Table Tennis, along with a lively Fun Gala that added color and excitement to the campus environment. Students participated with full spirit and passion, demonstrating teamwork, discipline, and a strong sense of sportsmanship.

The success of the event was made possible through the generous support of Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, Telenor, and Emmigreat, whose sponsorships played a vital role in making the celebration memorable.

A special highlight of the week was the visit of a delegation from Russia, which added an international flavor to the celebrations. The delegates interacted warmly with students and faculty members and even participated in friendly games, creating an atmosphere of cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Their visit reflected SZIC’s growing engagement in international academic and cultural collaboration.

The Prize Distribution Ceremony marked the grand conclusion of Students’ Week. Winners received shields, while all participants were awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their enthusiastic involvement and commitment.

The event was graced by Mr. Asad Ul Haq, CEO of FOCUS IT HUB, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, he appreciated the efforts of SZIC in nurturing talent and promoting extracurricular excellence. Mr. Asad Ul Haq made a remarkable announcement of a 100% waiver of course fees for SZIC students for specialized programs offered by FOCUS IT HUB. He further shared that the company would conduct free professional training courses, with only a nominal registration fee required. To strengthen this collaboration, he announced that an MoU will be signed between FOCUS IT HUB and SZIC to formalize this educational partnership, aimed at empowering students with essential IT and professional skills.

Prof. Dr. Abida Perveen, Director of Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the organizing committee, sponsors, and students. In her remarks, she highlighted that Students’ Week reflects the holistic educational philosophy of SZIC — one that equally values academic excellence, character building, and co-curricular engagement. She emphasized the importance of such events in fostering leadership, teamwork, and cultural understanding among students. Dr. Abida also extended her gratitude to the sponsors and the Russian delegation for their participation and support, acknowledging that their involvement made the event truly memorable.

The ceremony was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Agha Bacha, along with other faculty members, who actively participated in organizing and supervising various events throughout the week. Their presence and encouragement greatly motivated the students and contributed to the success of the celebrations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants, faculty, sponsors, and guests. The Students’ Week at SZIC not only celebrated the energy and potential of the students but also paved the way for new academic and professional opportunities, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to excellence in both education and personal development.
